War in Syria, refugee exodus and criminalisation of the media

Javier Bauluz – Speaker
Ricardo García Vilanova – Speaker
Xosé Abad – Moderates and Presents

THE WAR IN SYRIA, THE SUCCESS OF REFUGEES AND THE CRIMINALIZATION OF THE MEDIA.

These two committed photojournalists tell us, through their photographs and their lived experiences, the experiences of people trapped in conflicts, the exodus of refugees to escape death and misery and the conditions in refugee camps

RICARDO was from the beginning in the conflict in Syria (2011) and its extension to Iraq. He narrates his lived experience ( accompanied by the photos he took ) since the beginning of the peaceful demonstrations of the Syrian people during the Arab spring and how the Syrian regime bombarded or shot its own citizens… the beginning of the flight of the citizens from their cities to the countryside (Internal refugees in their country ) fleeing the combats (2012/2013). The formation of the first jihadist groups and the entry of ISIS and the Islamic state, the extension of the war to other nearby countries such as Iraq, Syria and Libya and the beginning of its retreat (2015) and the return of some of its citizens to their destroyed cities,

JAVIER tells us about his experience with the “exodus” of refugees who start arriving in the Greek islands and how he continues his journey through Serbia, Macedonia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Holland, France and Luxembourg… and the rescues in the Mediterranean Sea. The criminalization of refugees in the mass media and the increase of xenophobia and hatred of others so that we have no remorse of conscience and think that families who escape wars come to harm us.
